This document summarizes information about the different types of insurance coverage for participants in Israel Experience programs.

There are four types of insurance coverage which are included in Israel Experience programs: medical, personal accident, luggage insurance, and public liability.

1 ) Medical Insurance

Our medical and health insurance will compensate the insured for medical costs resulting from an "Insurance Event" which originated during the period of insurance. Said event is defined by the necessity for provision of medical treatment as determined by an authorized medical authority. Minor and ambulatory treatments are usually handled by in-house staff (medics or doctors-on-call), or via first-aid facilities and out-patient clinics according to advance authorization given by the insurer to the madrich/group leader of the particular Israel Experience program. Regarding additional medical assistance -
1.1 Medical benefits
1.1.1 Costs of treatment and hospitalization, including surgeon's fees, emergency room, intensive care and costs relating to the hospitalization.
1.1.2 Medical costs for examinations, laboratory tests, medicines, x-rays,radiography, etc. by an authorized physician.
1.1.3 Emergency treatment by a dentist, on condition that the treatment is given as first aid only.
1.1.4 Treatment in the case of emergency only, arising from psychological, nervous or psychiatric conditions, to a maximum amount of US $2,000 per person, and in addition travelling costs for early return to the country of origin including an escort, up to the amount of US $1,500.


1.2 Accompanying Costs
1.2.1 Costs of transferring the insured and an escort to the insured's country of origin prior to or later than the original planned date, based on an authorized medical opinion - up to the amount of $10,000.
1.2.2 Costs of medical evacuation, including evacuation by air - up to the amount of US $10,000.
1.2.3 In the event of death, costs of transferring insured's body for burial to his country of origin, including evacuation by air - up to the amount of US $10,000.


1.3 Exemptions_to the Insurance Company's Liability:

The insurer will not pay benefits in the following events:
1.3.1 If the insurance event occurred prior to the commencement of the insurance period or following the termination of the insurance period.
1.3.2 Any medical treatment which was already required by the insured on the date of commencement of the insurance period or medical treatment for a chronic, pre-existing condition. However, special exception may be made for treatment necessitated by a sudden, unforeseen worsening of the pre-existing condition.
1.3.3 Medication normally taken by the insured for a pre- existing condition.
1.3.4 If the insurance event occurred directly and/or indirectly as a result of the insured suffering from the syndrome known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
1.3.5 If the insurance event occurred within the framework of a work accident and/or could have been insured within the framework of the National Health Insurance Institute.
1.3.6 If the insurance event occured within the framework of a road accident.
NOTE: ROAD ACCIDENTS ARE COVERED BY ISRAELI LEGISLATION WHICH PROVIDES AUTOMATIC INSURANCE FOR ANY PERSON, PEDESTRIAN, DRIVER OR PASSENGER INJURED IN A ROAD ACCIDENT.
1.3.7 If the insurance event was related to winter sports or any competitive sport whatsoever, including automobile racing or aerial activities, except for travelling by air as a paying passenger in an aircraft legally
registered as a passenger aircraft and flown within the framework of a legal activity for the purpose of flying passengers and/or cargo by a legally authorised crew.

1.3.8 If the expenditures were for medical treatment received by the insured outside the borders of the State of Israel.

1.3.9 If the expenditures were for surgery or medical treatment, which in the opinion of an authorised physician who is treating the insured, could reasonably have been postponed until the insured's return to his country of origin and/or place of permanent residence.

1.3.10 If the insurance events were related or resulting from pregnancy, extra-uterine pregnancy, pregnancy watch, miscarriage, and birth, examinations and/or periodical check-ups.
1.3.11 If the expenditures were for plastic and/or cosmetic surgery.
1.3.12 If the expenditures were for examinations and/or periodical check-ups.
1.3.13 Any dental treatment excepting cases of first aid as stated in item 1.1.3.

1.4 Extraordinary items:

1.4.1 The policy will cover insurance events related to cave exploration and/or mountain climbing, on the condition that these activities are part of the tour programme, and are carried out with the approval of the appropriate authorities, and the group is accompanied by an authorized leader.
1.4.2 The policy will also cover water related activites (on the beach or at the pool) provided that these activities are part of the tour progamme, and are carried out at a beach or pool declared suitable for swimming and in the presence of a certified lifeguard.
1.4.3 THE POLICY WILL COVER EVENTS RELATED TO TOURS, TRIPS OR HIKES ON CONDITION THAT THESE ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES SUCH AS THE I.D.F. OR THE ISRAEL POLICE.
1.4.4 THE POLICY WILL COVER EVENTS RELATED TO ACTIVITIES IN THE FRAMEWORK OF GADNA CAMPS.
1.4.5 Insurance events in Israel related to war, terrorist activity,etc. are covered by Israeli legislation providing automatic medical insurance for victims thereof, regardless of whether the particular insurance evnts was related to a declared or undeclared war, attack, or action by a foreign enemy or hostile factors, civil war, revolutionary coup, civil demonstrations or rioting, expropriation, nationalisation, or confiscation by a public or local authority.

1.4.6 The medical insurance does not cover an insurance event related to and/or resulting directly or indirectly from a wilful act or occurrence with the aim to cause self-inflicted injury or to feign illness, madness, insanity, mental, nervous or psychiatric disturbances and disorders(excepting the emergency case as as indicated in item 1.1.4), fears and apprehensions, consumption of alcohol, drug abuse (unless medically prescribed, and other than for the treatment for drug withdrawal) and unnecessary self-exposure to danger (except in the course of an attempt to save human life).


2 ) Personal Accident Insurance

2.1 "An accident"-- Bodily injury caused by violent accident through external and visible means which solely results in death or permanent disability within twelve calendar months from the occurrence.

2. 2 Limits of Liability:
2.2.1 Death - US $25,000.
2.2. 2 100% permanent disability - US $25,000
2. 2.3 Partial permanent disability - payment as indicated in the Schedule of Benefits for the particular loss
sustained, or as indicated by an authorized physician.

2. 3 Exclusions:
Death, loss, injury or disability caused directly or indirectly by or resulting from:
2. 3.1 Mental or nervous shock unaccompanied by bodily injury.
2.3. 2 Intentional self-injury or suicide or any attempt thereat.
2.3.3 Venereal disease, insanity, intoxication, or the use of drugs.
2.3.4 An accident occurring whilst the insured is engaged in mountaineering, hunting, shooting, playing ski-ing, boxing, riding, or driving in any kind of race.


2.4 Claims
All accidents must be reported immediately to the Insurance Division of the Jewish Agency accompanied by the following documents:
• In case of death, a death certificate stating the cause of death and a succession order.
• In case of permanent disability, all medical documents concerning the accident and its consequences.


3 ) Luggage Insurance

This Insurance covers loss or damage to the Luggage of the participant on the program of the 'Israel Experience Ltd' from the time he leaves his country of origin and until his return thereto.

Maximum Insurance coverage is up to $3,000.
Maximum claim per item is up to $400, with the following exceptions:
Suitcase – $100
CD/MD player - $150
Photo camera – $150
Digital photo camera - $300
Sun glasses – $80
Spectacles/Prescription Sunglasses – $250
Clothing – $70 (per item)
Trainers - $100
Watch – $120

Not covered: cash, cheques of any kind, contact lenses, film, videocassette, audiocassette, dvd, mobile phone, medical equipment, medicine, umbrellas, breakables and artwork.
Damage to items caused by wear and tear, or resulting from the negligence of the insured or his/her failure to take reasonable steps to prevent the damage or minimize it.
In a claim for less than $1,500 the first $50 of the amount recognized by the insurer is to be paid by the claimant himself; in claims recognized for amounts over $1,500 the first $100 is to be paid by the claimant himself.


In the event of loss or damage to baggage, the madrich of the insured person's group will decide whether or not to file a police report. In all cases he will file a report of the event with the Israel Experience Jerusalem office (with a copy to the organization responsible for the group), detailing the lost or damaged items.

On returning home the claimant must furnish Israel Expereince Ltd with either receipts of the original purchase, or-
a quotation for the replacement or repair of the lost or damaged items.
Copies should be sent to the organization which was responsible for his Israel Experience program.
All correspondence in matters of insurance claims must be addressed to our EMAIL address.

Luggage that has been damaged or lost during travel should be reported to the Airline Company, and all correspondence in connection to the claims is to be presented to us.
Compensation within the framework of the Insurance will be made after deducting the amount received from the Airline Company.

In order to deal with these matters efficiently, it is important that Israel Experience Ltd receive claims immediately,and have requisite details and documentation provided in a timely manner.


4 ) Public & Products Liability Insurance

The Public & Products Liability Insurance for Israel Experience Programs is covered by the public liability insurance policy of the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) for cases of legal liability to third parties, arising out of JAFI business.

The above policy also covers any organization operating programs in conjunction with JAFI and/or with the World Zionist Organization and/or with the Israel Experience Ltd to the extent of their programs so operated.
The Limit of Liability is up to USD 30,000,000 (Thirty Million Dollars) for any one event out of one originating cause. There is no aggregate during the period of insurance. The territorial limits and jurisdiction are worldwide. The policy does not cover liability occasioned by, happening through, or in consequence of war and an act of foreign enemy hostilities by military forces of a sovereign state. The policy covers acts of hostilities by terrorists not belonging to military forces of any sovereign state. The Policy covers JAFI and/or Additional Insureds for their legal liability to third parties caused by or arising out of a subcontractor appointed by them. The Policy covers liability arising from the use of guards and other persons authorized by the Security Division of JAFI to carry arms. Note: 1.
